Hoy anuncio que mi primer manual lingüístico está terminado. Es un manual sobre Qetzio, el idioma que he creado para mi proyecto de novelas Baladas de Arena.
Se
trata de un idioma primitivo, simple, ya que la civilización
ficticia que lo habla en la saga es el más primitivo de las varias
culturas que aparecen. Tiene cierta influencia de los antiguos
maya y sirio, y cuenta con unas reglas gramaticales
simples, así como con un vocabulario no demasiado extenso,
adaptado a la que sería una cultura muy antigua, por lo que, tal
vez, no sea una lengua muy práctica para la vida contemporánea. Aun
así, cuenta incluso con sus propios símbolos y su tipografía
digital. Puede que los símbolos, aunque me haya fijado en un estilo
arábico para crearlos, sean parecidos a lo que llamamos alfabeto
latino, pues en las novelas existe la posibilidad de que, lo que
hoy llamamos alfabeto latino, haya evolucionado del qetzio.
Debo
decir que, aunque este era un proyecto que he estado pensando en
realizar desde hace tiempo, en mi opinión, crear todo un idioma es
bastante tedioso. Desde luego más tedioso que escribir una novela,
que aun pudiendo ser un proceso más largo, ofrece más libertad y creatividad y, aun así, me ha parecido
una experiencia satisfactoria.
Me ha llevado bastante tiempo terminar el manual aun siendo un manual
bastante simple. Aunque he pensado también en hacer un diccionario
con todo el vocabulario qetzio (pues que en el manual no está todo),
creo que eso sí que iba a ser tedioso y, de todos modos, ¿quién
iba a estar tan interesado en aprender este idioma? Ni siquiera el élfico ha tenido tanto éxito.
Aviso
también que no soy filólogo, lingüista ni nada parecido, ni he
contado con la colaboración de nadie así. No soy más que un
creativo que siente respeto por el mundo de los idiomas, por lo que
no afirmaré en ningún momento que el qetzio
sea una lengua perfecta desde un punto de vista lingüístico o
gramático. Aun así, he intentado hacerlo lo mejor posible.

Today
I want to announce that my first language manual is finished.
It is a manual about qetzio, the language that I created for
Baladas de Arena novel series.
It
is a primitive, simple language, now that the fictional civilization
that speaks it in the series is the most primitive of the several
cultures that appear there. It has certain influence of the ancient
Mayan and Syrian, and has simple grammatical rules, as
well as a not too extensive vocabulary, adapted to what would be a
very old culture, that’s why, perhaps, this is not a very practical
language for contemporary life. Even so, it has its own symbols
and its digital typography. It’s possible that the symbols,
although I have watched an Arabic style to create them, they are
similar to what we call the Latin alphabet, since in novels there is
a possibility that what is now called Latin alphabet has evolved from
the qetzio.
I
must say that, although this is a project in which I have been
thinking of making since a long time ago, in my opinion, creating the
whole language has been quite tedious. Of course more tedious than
writing a novel, which offers more freedom and creativity and, yet, I
have found it a satisfactory experience, as it is usually a finished
project. It has taken me quite some time to finish the manual even
though it is a fairly simple manual. Although I have also thought in
creating a dictionary with the whole qetzio vocabulary
(because is not everything in the manual), I think that it would be
really tedious and, anyway, who would be so interested in learning
this language? Not even the elf has been that successful.
I
also notify that I am not a philologist, linguist or anything
similar, nor have I counted on the collaboration of anyone like that.
I am only a creative who has respect for the languages world, so I
will never affirm that qetzio is a perfect language from a
linguistic or grammatical point of view. Even so, I have tried to do
my best.
